Northern sandstone quarry company Dunhouse, which operates seven quarries, has formed a company to supply a range of porcelain worktops with built-in induction heating elements.
Paul Allison, the Managing Director of Dunhouse, and Dan Hall, the Managing Director of Laidler Luxstone, have created Dunhouse Luxstone to distribute the materials in the UK outside of London and the home counties, which are serviced by Laidler Luxstone.
Dan’s career in the stone sector started at Dunhouse working on the saws and in production management. He left for London five years ago and for the past two-and-a-half years has been involved in project management.
He came across the European-made porcelain product, called Allsfor, when he was looking for marble for a project in Dublin. He believed it had potential and set about securing its distribution in the UK. It is now going on sale.
Porcelains are a rapidly growing sector of the worktop market, with marble and industrial looks particularly popular. The Allsfor range has four stone finishes and seven industrial designs. Slabs are 15mm thick in four sizes: 1.5m x 1.2m; 1.5m x 700mm; 3m x 700mm; 3m x 1.2m. They are reinforced with two sheets of aluminium and have a tactile matt surface.
Laidler Luxstone is the sole UK distributor for Allsfor worksurfaces. “We will service contract sector projects in London and the home counties directly with the supply and install,” says Dan. The general public will be able to buy from their local stone fabricators and kitchen showrooms, who Laidler Luxstone will supply with the slabs in London and the home counties. Dunhouse Luxstone will do the same in the rest of the country.
Dunhouse Luxstone is also a stone contractor and will be tendering for supply and install projects across the UK, including any external / internal scopes (the induction hobs being perfectly safe for external use).
The technology provides a multifunctional worksurface that food can be prepared on, cooked on and eaten off while entertaining in the same area.
There are three induction stations as standard but with the option of more or less. There are matching splashbacks. Slabs will be sold with a two year replacement warranty and prices start at £2,300 for the 1.5m x 700mm size.
Dan and Paul even promise to plant a tree in the UK for every Allsfor worksurface sold.
