Camden\'s decision on South Portico delayed again

Camden Council have delayed again their decision on how to react to an alternative to Portland limestone being used to build the replica south portico in the Great Court Scheme at the British Museum.

At the Council\'s development control sub-committee on 14 December the council officers supported the English Heritage view that no action should be taken, but councillors were not so sure and have sought independent advice on the matter from Stephen Hockman QC.

They had intended to discuss the matter again on 8 March and then on 5 April, but the QCs report was still being prepared, they heard. Now they have put the matter back to 26 April.

Meanwhile, the fraud squad at Scotland Yard are still investigating allegations of a non-fulfilment of the terms and conditions of a contract regarding the portico.
