Royal Forest Pennant, specialists in British pennant stone from the Forest of Dean, have supplied their distinctive paving to Crosskeys Corner, a communal village area in Caerphilly. A selection of mixed colour pennant stone has been installed at the 770m2 site, including paving, steps and kerbs. Forest Pennant also supplied six solid bespoke pennant stone seating blocks that were then individually carved and inscribed by stone sculptor Alyosha Moeran. Each block was designed to make reference to local geography and history in some way.
“The redevelopment of Crosskeys Corner has significantly improved the aesthetic appearance of the site and the use of Pennant stone keeps in harmony with surrounding homes,” says Matthew Cole, Development Team Manager, Groundwork Caerphilly. “The site is a focal point of the village and gives a sense of place to its surroundings. It also provides shelter and seating and organises the flow of pedestrian traffic.”
