We at Natural Stone Specialist have a new plaque outside our offices, thanks to Phil Hutchins of York stone quarry company Woodkirk, who supplied their Blue sandstone for the plaque with attractive V-cut lettering by Phil’s other company, Cambridge Masonry.
Phil is a member of the Institute of Quarrying, who are major shareholders of QMJ Publishing (owners of NSS) and share the offices with us.
QMJ Managing Director Jack Berridge says he chose to replace the brass plaque with stone because “it seemed much more appropriate for the professional body and the publishing company in the quarrying and stone industry to be using natural stone for its name plate”.
The Woodkirk blue stone with its attractive ‘V’ cut lettering sits well against the red brick of our offices in a Victorian town house in the centre of Nottingham.
There are other examples of stonework in our offices. The Dutch gable was replaced with new Ancaster limestone 10 years ago and we have Burlington blue-grey Westmorland slate on the floor of our foyer, which was laid earlier this year by the London-based national specialist contractors Szerelmey.
