William Anelay goes back to school to teach children about site safety
William Anelay Ltd, the Manchester and York-based specialist stone and conservation company currently working with The Art House to breathe new life into Wakefield's Grade II listed Drury Lane Library, took time out to go back to the classroom and give local children a lesson in construction site safety.
There were 32 youngsters aged 9 and 10 from Flanshaw Junior and Infants School who learnt all about the dangers of a construction site. The interactive session helped youngsters to understand about personal protective equipment while also looking at basic construction site health and safety.
John Hutton, William Anelay's Site manager at The Old Drury Lane development, commented: "Unfortunately, construction sites always look attractive to children, so it's really important to remind youngsters that such sites are not a playground. Regardless of what developments look like from the outside they are still dangerous places.
"With such a high profile city centre redevelopment as Drury Lane Library we felt it was a perfect opportunity to go back to the classroom and remind children about the risks in a fun and engaging way."
The work being carried out at Drury Lane Library, adjacent to The Art House, is converting it into 34 studios for artists. The redevelopment is expected to be completed by Spring next year.
