Grist to the Mill
This is the south wall of Warwick Castle with its water mill below in its picturesque position alongside the River Avon, where stone and conservation specialists Linford-Bridgeman have been contracted to restore the castle millhouse to its 1900 condition.
The watermill originally dates back to 1398 and over the years has been used to grind flour, pump water and generate electricity for the castle. By 1900 it was generating electricity and visitors will be able to see it in full working order and discover the impact electricity had on the castle.
This is the third time Linford Bridgeman have worked at the Castle. Previously they converted and built visitor facilities and they prepared the Undercroft for dramatic display areas.
