Ardex solutions for stone

Landscape designer Phillippa Lambert rediscovered a site on the Isle of Wight with a two-acre lake and walled garden that originally formed the landscape of a significant Victorian seaside residence at Undercliff in St Lawrence.

Now a new-build project involving the construction of a new house has allowed the Old Park lake and gardens to be restored. Once completed, the site will be opened without charge to schools, special needs groups and for charity fund-raising events.

The project included the use of natural stone in the new build for which Ardex provided adhesives, grouting and sealing.

Ancaster Rose 400mm x 400mm limestone tiles supplied by Albion Stone were fixed on the ground floor using Ardex S16W white rapid hardening and drying wall and floor tile adhesive, in conjunction with Ardex P51 Primer.

For the wet room, the floor area was treated with Ardex WPC, which provided a waterproof protection coat prior to the fixing of the limestone tiles with Ardex S16W and E90. WPC is specially designed for domestic or commercial tiling applications where speed is of the essence, since tile fixing can commence just two hours after application of the second waterproof coat. The wet room wall tiles were also fixed with Ardex S16W in conjunction with Ardex 90 admixture.

All of the tiles were grouted with Ardex MG grout, a unique rapidly drying grout ideal for use with marble and natural stone as it virtually eliminates the risk of water staining at the tile edge and allows tiles to be walked on only 90 minutes after application.

To complete the Ardex line-up, the external ground floor porch tiles were fixed with Ardex-Flex 5000 white flexible tile adhesive and grouted with Ardex-Flex FS flexible and dirt resistant tile grout.
