Forest Pennant company buys UK's first dash-3 Doosan

Forest of Dean Stone Firms, which extracts Pennant sandstone from the Forest that is sold as paving, masonry and building stone, has bought the UK’s first dash-3 Doosan DX530LC 52tonne crawler excavator.

Supplied by Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd, the Authorised Dealer for the Doosan, Bobcat and Montabert ranges for South West England, the new DX530LC-3 is Stage IIIB compliant for emissions.

It will be used in the extraction of new beds of stone from low down in the quarry that are enabling Forest Pennant to be supplied as flame finished paving for the first time. You can find out more about that on the Forest of Dean Stone Firms stand (E20) at the Natural Stone Show at ExCeL London, 28-30 April.

The new excavator replaces a Doosan DX520LC model that had been working at the quarry for the past five years.

The Royal Forest Pennant is a particularly resilient, hard wearing, attractively coloured carboniferous sandstone.
