Marshalls PLC has entered an agreement with Fairhurst Stone Merchants that gives Marshalls exclusivity on Fairhurst’s Whitworth York Stone for use in the commercial environment.
Whitworth York Stone is a blue grey to buff brown sandstone quarried near Rochdale in Lancashire.
The Quarry has extensive reserves of high quality blockstone. Marshalls says this agreement will allow it to expand the market for the material through its established UK and international operations.
Andy Robinson, MD of Marshalls Mineral Products division, says: “We were delighted when Fairhurst approached us with this proposal. It gives Marshalls an opportunity to expand our offer and to introduce new differentiated products into our portfolio.”
Dave Stanger, Marshalls’ Natural Stone Paving Trading Director, adds: “As the UK’s premier provider of natural stone in the built environment, this agreement with Fairhurst will only bolster customer choice when it comes to selecting British stone.
“Marshalls is passionate about indigenous stone products, with a rich quarrying heritage going back over 100 years, and we look forward to continuing our active promotion of British products over the coming months and years.”
The Whitworth York stone joins Appleton, Scoutmoor, Cromwell and Moselden York Stones that are also sold by Marshalls.
