Stone company Houldsworth of Yorkshire has been given planning permission to extend its premises at Cullingworth Mills, Bradford, West Yorkshire, with a new saw shed and boundary fencing in spite of local objections.
Local residents claimed they were already affected by noise and dust from the yard and feared the open-ended design proposed for the new building would worsen the problem. But Bradford council planners heard from their planning officers that the proposed extension would not worsen the environmental impacts of the existing yard and might even reduce the impact of dust and noise.
Councillors heard that the yard area had been in long-standing use as a stoneyard by two businesses, Houldsworth of Yorkshire and Bingley Stone.
