Six invested as Master Masons in Livery Companies programme
Six masons were among those recognised in this year’s investiture of Master Craftsmen by the Livery Companies Skills Council.
The investitures were made at Fishmongers Hall by the Lord Mayor of London, Jeffrey Evans, the 4th Baron Mountevans, in the centre of the picture here. On the left is William Gloyn, Master of the Masons Livery Company, and on the right, Sheriff Dr Christine Rigden.
The Master Masons are (left to right in the picture above) Daren Tailby, Martin Coward, Lee Godfrey, Lee Saunders, Paul Maggs and Nigel Gilkison.
Nigel is a lecturer in stonemasonry at the Building Crafts College in London. His father, John Gilkison, was invested as a Master Joiner at the same event. John is 71 and has just retired, which he says will give him the time he needs to study for a master’s degree in building conservation.
