In preparation for the publication of the draft Heritage Protection Bill consultants Tuffin Ferraby Taylor (TFT) have restructured their cultural heritage division to give it a wider national focus.

The specialist division now has representatives across TFT\'s regional offices, thanks to the relocation of some staff and the recruitment of more experts.

Stephen Bond, head of TFT Cultural Heritage, explains: "The Heritage Protection Bill aims to improve the heritage protection system currently in place and will add renewed focus on sustaining our historical environment. It is important therefore that we position ourselves to be able to respond to the needs of heritage sites throughout Britain."

New additions to the TFT cultural heritage team include John Edwards in Cardiff and Daniel Martin in London.

John joins TFT from the recent restoration of Cardiff Castle. He is currently the only Chartered Surveyor in Wales accredited in building conservation. He brings with him an international reputation, lecturing on heritage to global audiences.

Daniel previously focused on ecclesiastical projects in London with Biscoe Craig Hall and worked as an historic buildings surveyor for English Heritage.

Stephen Bond says of the changes proposed in the Bill: "Heritage has to be lived and therefore buildings must meet the needs of their surrounding environment so they not only exist as a reminder of our past but they help form the future of our communities."

Conservation projects TFT Cultural Heritage have worked on include Manchester Town Hall, the Wellington Monument, Taunton Castle, Christ\'s Hospital, the Maughan Library at King\'s College London, and buildings for both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
