Britannicus Stone has supplied large format Hopton Wood limestone from Derbyshire to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) as flooring for a new gallery at its premises in Portland Place, London.
The opening exhibition in the gallery is ‘The Brits Who Built The Modern World’, which opened to much acclaim – with even some excellent reviews of the stone floor.
Hopton Wood was used by RIBA to complement the original tiles throughout the Portland Place building. Hopton Wood stone can be found in other premier sites in England, including Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.
If you happen to visit the exhibition at the new gallery, take a moment to view the Art Deco Ashburton pillars on the first floor, because Ashburton is another of the exquisite British stones offered by Britannicus.
