British architects Fosters + Partners have branched out into the design of a stone range for Italian suppliers Luce di Carrara.

Each of the ‘Foster Kits’ containing samples of stone, along with suggestions for accompanying materials, is available in four colour combinations: sand, grey, red and black & white. 

The selections are based on what Fosters describe as their experience of using stone to create light-filled, high quality buildings and interiors around the world.

John Small, head of product design at Foster + Partners, says: “As well as setting new standards in quality, the range addresses the impact of stone on the environment, exploring how stone’s longevity can be optimised and the energy demands of its processing mitigated.”

Fosters say the range sets a benchmark for sustainability in processing and transportation.
