BLOOMING LOVELY
More than 60 tonnes of Irish Blue limestone from producers McKeon Stone were used by stone specialists CED in Grays, Essex, to create the Gold Medal-winning Chetwoods \'Urban Oasis\' garden at the Chelsea Flower Show earlier this month (June).
The stone, from McKeon\'s quarry in Threecastles, Kilkenny, was cut and crafted in the company\'s workshops in Stradbally, Co Laois. Between them, the quarry and the workshop employ 55 people and supply stone for the construction markets of Belgium and Holland, as well as the UK and Ireland.
McKeon Stone\'s managing director, Niall Kavanagh, is pictured here in the Chetwoods garden with landscape architect Patrick Collins, who is holding the Gold Medal certificate.
