Britain takes gold in roofing world championships
Two of Britain\'s young roofers, Andrew Currie from Peebleshire and Christian Skuse from Bristol, have won the Gold Medal at the World Championships in Edinburgh.
The competition is run by the International Federation of Roofing Contractors and was hosted by the British organisation, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) this year. The idea is to encourage youngsters to take up roofing as a career.
What particularly impressed the judges about the British pair\'s performance during the three day event was their laying of coursed, random width roofing slates, supplied on this occasion by Burlington of Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria.
NFRC chief executive Edward Cowan said: The random width slating part of the competition proved to be the highlight that determined which was the most successful team.
