Burlington in the Bullring

Amid the limestone terraces and a sloping granite piazza to the east and west of Birmingham\'s recreated £1billion, 110,000m2 Bullring shopping centre is an oasis of Burlington\'s Blue/Grey stone and glass that is part of a £2million spend on public art on the 26-acre site.

Free Form Arts Trust has overseen the artwork, which includes the Burlington stone and glass cubes by landscape architects Gross Max of Edinburgh. The three cubes, two, three and five metres high, are partially clad in grooved stone that seemingly cloaks the cubes on three sides. Each cube is illuminated with constantly changing colours.

Burlington\'s stone has also been used to create a series of three interlinked 50mm deep pools at the base of each glass cube to collect the water cascading down the walls. PIC - Burlington Bullring)
