Education: Call to back new training centre
The team behind an £8million international \'training community\' for the construction industry planned for the West Midlands is calling on the industry to lend its support. The appeal comes as Act-UK, which says it has no less an aim than "to change the face of the British construction industry", prepared to submit an outline bid for funding to Advantage West Midlands in January. In order to obtain the funding it needs the construction industry to show it is prepared to back the project.
Act-UK (Act stand for Advanced Construction Technologies) plan to offer a life-long learning approach to construction training from primary school pupils through to experienced construction personnel. The project is intended to create a centre of excellence for management training as well as raising the profile of the construction industry to make it more attractive to a new generation of trainees.
