Having spent 15 years assembling, delivering, inducting people into the use of, and repairing Jos systems, Jamie Fairchild, who has formed Restorative Techniques, believed the system could be improved and set out to reduce the size and weight of the components, making the system more portable and easier and cheaper to maintain with robust, more convenient and more adjustable controls, improved output, and a reduced or eliminated reliance on an electrical supply… all at a lower price. He believes he has achieved that.
The standard VorTech system has a 24L pot and is fitted with a 110V motor, although it can operate from a 230V power supply, 24V or 12V (12V so it can run off the battery of the air compressor). It comes with 20m of two-part control line, which protects against accidental operation and allows for the option of controls at the operator end of the hose. The water pump provides 100psi and weighs only 6kg (if a pressure wash is required, larger pumps are available). There is a choice of nozzles – a 5mm parellel for detail, 9.5mm for general cleaning, 10mm semi-parallel for heavy duty coating removal, and the original Micro and Piccolo Jos designs.
