On the cover: Flex tools for the stonemason of today

The new Flex screwdriver.

Flex supplies a full range of power tools ideal for masonry work. Now Flex Elektrowerkzeuge GmbH, to give it its full name, has launched two latest generation robust yet light cordless impact drivers. There is the Flex ID ¼in 18.0 screwdriver and the two-gear PD 2G 18.0 hammer drill screwgun.

These cordless impact drivers can be combined with all 18V battery packs from the Flex cordless range and have an LED indicator to show the remaining charge level at a glance. The battery range has a capacity of either 2.5 or 5.0 ampere-hours (Ah) and features ‘Keep Cool’ technology – innovative heat management that gives uncompromised performance with long running times.

The PD 2G 18.0 also has an integrated Electronic Management System (EMS). This protects against excess current, over-charging and overheating. And with 24 torque settings up to 63 Newton-meters to allow drilling diameters up to 13mm in steel, over 16mm in masonry and 30mm in timber, the PD 2G 18.0 is designed for some pretty tough work.

The robust die-cast aluminium gear housing with metal planetary gears on both these drivers gives all round resilience.

Practical details such as the ergonomic non-slip handles, an integrated LED light to shine on to the workspot and the electronic quick-acting brake improve safety.

The drivers come with a carry case, and belt clip with bit holder.
