A new portable work station for cutting and polishing sink cut-outs is being launched by Ghines at Italy’s now biennial Carrara Marmotec exhibition next month (19-22 May). It will be on the Ghines stand, 509-475 Hall B.
Called Daimon, the work station has a three-speed motor that is powerful but single phase, so it can go anywhere there is a 220V socket.
Ghines say Daimon has been produced as the result of a year-long research and development project that has produced a compact, light machine that makes it easily portable while nevertheless boasting high stability and great accuracy.
The accuracy comes from the frame being fixed directly to the slab that is to be worked through a clamping system incorporating steel cords. The slab becomes the working surface itself.
Thanks to this unique connection, the spindle can run discs, bits and profiling tools normally used on CNC workcentres, giving it a versatile set of operations – vertical and inclined cuts, profiling, drilling, shaping, producing a recess drainer, polishing, slots, cutting back edges for a sink surface mount. The water lubricated spindle assures a constant supply of water to the tool. There is also a tile version available.
The Daimon can work with a template or the X and Y axes can be adjusted to a predetermined area.
