Granite Tool Supplies have entered into a partnership with Spanish tooling manufacturers Abressa Abrasivos to launch a new range of High Speed CNC tooling.

The offer includes a comprehensive range of popular edge profiles and a five-stage Router System developed with Aquartz and Silestone for their integrated sinks.

All wheels are engineered to the highest specification and each position is supplied with a technical data sheet that includes operating feeds, speeds, XY offset and stock removal rates. Individual laser-measured tool radius dimensions are also provided to ensure the wheels run at the correct working parameters to give optimum performance and life.

Abressa say their CNC tooling really starts to come into its own in high volume production applications. Fabricators can expect to be able to produce in excess of 3,000 linear metres with metal bond positions 1-4. Diamond polishing grades in positions 5-6 will polish 1,000-3,000 linear metres, which can be as much as 5-10 times more than some wheels. This can produce tooling costs of between just 90p and £1.50 per linear metre (depending on the profile and stone type).

Positions 1-3 are capable of running at 3000mm a minute feed rate and positions 4-6 up to 1000mm a minute, subject to machine conditions.

Generally it is only necessary to use 4-5 wheels on engineered stone and 5-6 on granite.

During development of this system, a gloss reading of 99 was achieved on Nero Assoluto, which was higher than the factory surface finish of 92.
