A new range of specialist abrasive cleaning equipment for heritage restoration and other delicate surface treatment work has been launched in the UK by Hodge Clemco.
Called IBIX, the cleaning equipment is designed for the gentle cleaning of materials that might be easy to damage.
Pressure can be precisely adjusted from 0.2 to 7 bar by the operator to control the output of the abrasive material – and many different types of media can be used, including calcium carbonate, fine garnet and sodium bicarbonate.
Models are available with 9litre and 25litre media hoppers in dry-blasting or wet-blasting versions.
The H2O models allow low-pressure wet-blasting using atomised water mixed with abrasive at the nozzle. This is ideal for work on particularly delicate surfaces and also minimises dust.
The 9litre model weighs 12kg and the 25litre model 28kg. They are compact enough to be used in confined spaces and on access platforms and scaffolding by a single operator.
A choice of nozzles is available to suit specific applications. They are all compact and feature a comfortable trigger-grip with a safety button.
Helix nozzles can further improve performance, particularly on delicate surfaces. By increasing the tangential contact area, the Helix nozzle produces a gentle, consistent cleaning performance with low media and air consumption.
Tungsten carbide nozzles are available in several sizes and are suitable for wet and dry operations.
