Andy Bell returned from Marmomacc in Verona this year with negotiations under way for his company, National Masonry, to represent EmmeDue, the Italian manufacturer of CNC workcentres, and saws that range from the manually operated to top of the market CNCs.
Those negotiations have now been completed and National Masonry has added the marque to the new machinery it offers.
EmmeDue gives National Masonry a range of saws in a price spectrum from £38,000 to £85,000 that can compete at the top end in the same ball park as GMM and Thibaut.
The latest saw from the EmmeDue stable is the five-axes Discovery, which was being shown in Verona and was one of the developments that convinced National Masonry to accept the agency.
The Discovery has a monolithic structure of galvanized steel, automatic head rotation of 0-370° controlled by PLC and automatic tilting of
0-90°. The head is powered by a 20hp inverter motor that has a cutting speed adjustable up to 4300rpm, carrying discs up to 625mm. It can work slabs up to 3600 x 2000mm.
It has a fixed work table that is hydraulically tilted for easy loading of slabs.
Andy says what he especially likes about all the machines in the EmmeDue range – from the simple, manually operated saws through to the top-of-the-range CNCs – is the quality of their manufacture and the fact that almost all the components are made in Italy, so there should not be any problems obtaining any spares that are necessary.
He was also impressed by the prices now being quoted for machines with such a high specification.
“I could see it was time for me to move to a company that is ahead of the game,” Andy told NSS. He says he had been watching the development of EmmeDue for at least half of its 20 years in existence
“Christian Montanari, who runs the company, is a young guy with forward looking ideas. He’s not frightened to get out into the market with a philosophy of quality of product and service.”
