Machinery: Roccia

When times are uncertain there is a comfort factor in buying top end products that are tried and tested. That has benefited Roccia Machinery in Derby, which has had another successful year with GMM bridge saws, both the larger machines for traditional masonry and the smaller footprint Brios that are often used by the worktop sector.

The latest version of the Brio has full numerical control, which allows the latest version of MiniCAD, found on the larger CAD saws such as the Egil and Litox, to be installed. MiniCAD software can be used to cut out kitchen worktops from dxf files, including cutouts and curved edges, now that the Brio has a head that can rotate in a full circle.

“We are having a fantastic year – even better than last year,” Darren Bill, who joined Roccia last year, told NSS.

The GMM stand at Marmomacc will feature the new launch Zeda, the largest format CNC saw that GMM has ever produced. Marmomacc gives the industry its first chance to see this heavyweight that carries a blade of up to 1300mm with a rise and fall of 1600mm. It has already attracted interest from companies in the UK.

As well as the new Brio, other highlights on the GMM stand include a Tower edge polisher from Cemar, the edge polisher manufacturer GMM bought in 2008.

Darren says the Omag CNC workcentres that Roccia sells have also been successful this year and there has been a lot of interest in the Pelligrini wire saws that Roccia has taken on to replace the Bideseimpianti brand it used to sell. Bidese was taken over by Breton last year and the wire saws are now being sold in the British Isles by Breton UK.

“Next year I think we will see quite a bit of growth in the wire saw market,” says Darren. “They are just beginning to sell for slabbing – they are easy to install, their energy consumption is low, their water usage is low and they’re fast. Once the ball gets rolling it will be unstoppable.”

Roccia also sells Tecnosplit splitting lines and Fraccaroli water treatment equipment and is now also expanding the range of tools and consumables it sells, as you will soon be able to see at www.rocciamachinery.com. The website is currently being updated to include the larger range.

The company anticipates major growth from tools and consumables next year, expanding its customer base and keeping it in front of companies when they are ready to invest in new machinery.
