Machinery : Simec monoblocs

UK stone and machinery suppliers Pisani are now representing Italian machinery company Simec in the UK. Simec supply a substantial range of saws and other stone processing equipment. Here Pisani introduce two new versions of Simec monoblocs.

Main features of the Simec Fast 500 / Quick 625

General. Within the international stone industry, Simec represent a reference point for quality and innovation achieved over 40 years of making machinery for the sector. Simec are leading manufactures of machinery and plant for the processing of marble, granite and engineered stone. The Fast 500 and Quick 625 are their latest monobloc bridge saws. They are fast and accurate without compromising quality and come in at a reasonable price.

Physical configuration. Both machines have overall dimensions of 6.65m x 4.27m x 3.45m and weigh 5,500kg. A cutting length of 3.5m and width of 2.1m is achievable with a rise and fall of 300mm.

Capabilities. The head of both machines can rotate continuously through 360º and the X and Y axes are interpolated so the head always takes the shortest route to reposition itself between one cut and another. The blade can be tilted manually through 0-90º. Tilted, parallel, diagonal or curved cuts can be produced in both programmed repetitive operation and for one-offs.

Design. The standard Fast 500 and Quick 625 are supplied as monoblocs – ie they are fitted on a monolithic steel structure that ensures maximum levels of rigidity and stability with minimum civils. All axes move on linear guides with four pre-loaded ball bearings ensuring fast, smooth and accurate operation. All the lubrication points are grouped in easily accessible zones so that routine maintenance can be performed without having to dismantle panels or guards.

Tables. The machines are supplied standard with fixed tables but can be provided with tilt tables as an option.

Spindle. The spindle is anchored to the front of the beam to offer maximum rigidity. The Fast can carry discs up to 500mm and the Quick discs up to 625mm. The motors are brushless with precision reduction units. The Fast has an 11kW motor at 1450rpm and the Quick a 17.6kW motor with inverter for variable speeds of between 725 and 2900rpm.

Control. Both models have a touch screen control panel that makes programming quick and easy. All axes are controlled by a GE Fanuc NC system ensuring fast, precise and reliable operation.

Price. The machines have a price point of £50,000-£60,000.

Further information. Simec equipment is manufactured in Italy. The company are represented in the UK by Pisani Plc. Tel: 01629 821310.
