Memorials : Willcox gets gold (paint)

Wholesaler George Willcox (Granite) Ltd has done more than most to use the internet for the benefit of its customers. The site includes photographs of the Willcox collection for the public to see but is intended for the trade – and says so, offering the public the opportunity of finding a mason with Willcox memorials near to them by entering their location.

The site keeps a record of how much each retail mason has spent with Willcox so that the customer can instantly see which level of discount it has earned, discounts being based on how much the customer spends with Willcox.

Lately, Willcox has been involved in a the development of a gold paint that is good enough to replace much more expensive gold leaf. It believes it now has a paint that has the lustre of gold leaf and, importantly, retains that lustre for years, which has always been the biggest difficulty with gold paint.

The picture on the right shows a machine-carved Celtic cross on a Willcox granite memorial. It was produced using the company’s new CNC Pavoni. Willcox invested in the new machine to produce ‘V’ cut lettering and high quality 3D engraving at an affordable price. This cross has been enhanced with background highlights.
