Dame Judith Hackitt is the keynote speaker at 'The Construction Leaders Summit – The Digital Future' taking place online on 13 & 14 October. She will deliver a presentation on forthcoming construction regulation and directly address the draft Building Safety Bill.
The event is organised by NBS, an online platform for the use of digital technology in construction that evolved from the UK’s National Building Specification.
The summit is free to attend but places must be booked in advance (see below). The main focus is the digital transformation of the construction industry and the benefits it can deliver. The summit will also explore the future of construction and the changes that lie ahead.
Apart from Dame Judith, speakers will include the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Business and Industry) Nadhim Zahawi MP discussing construction and political change, and speakers from McKinsey and BDO discussing the impact of Covid-19 on the sector and how businesses can prepare for the ‘new normal' to follow.
While Covid-19 has quickened the pace of technological uptake and integration in many industries, construction in the UK still lags behind the curve. A move to digital transformation, driven by legislation and a new focus on safety, will become key priorities in a post-pandemic world if the industry wants to keep up with the changed business landscape.
‘The Construction Leaders Summit - The Digital Future’ will cover the advantages of degrees of standardisation and look at the benefits and challenges of digital transformation. It aims to leave those taking part with ideas for practical steps they can take to face the future with confidence.
