Ethical sourcing conference – 24 November, London

CIRIA and Loughborough University are delighted to announce the fifth annual conference from Action Programme for Responsible Sourcing (APRES) conference titled 'Manage risk and enhance reputation thorough responsible sourcing', taking place on 24 November 2015 in London.

This year’s programme will provide an opportunity to hear progress from across the sector including a number of new and innovative tools and guidance. The event will also examine responsible sourcing in the context of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and mitigation of reputational and economic risks through supply chains management.

Peter Caplehorn, Policy Director and Deputy Chief Executive of the Construction Products Association will deliver the keynote address. Delegates will hear speakers from throughout the value and supply chain discuss the integration of responsible sourcing throughout the construction process, the challenges of this, and improving collaboration between client, designer, specifiers and contractor.

Breakout sessions will examine:

  • Practical steps towards achieving a more transparent supply chain
  • Social impacts & ethical dimensions of engineering and the construction sector
  • Mitigating reputational risk in supply chains through responsible sourcing

Responsible Solutions is this year’s headline sponsor. The organisation has supported clients in demonstrating their environmental and corporate credentials for more than 10 years.

Professor Jacqui Glass, Network Manager for APRES, says: "We are delighted to host such an excellent range of speakers on this important subject. This year the APRES conference will focus on the risks that companies are facing everyday – our aim is to highlight new insights from senior risk consultants and PR experts, and showcase new tools and guidance, all of which aims to help small and large construction businesses improve their supply chain management.”
