The historic Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire, is to host its first stone carving festival this coming weekend (20 & 21 October).
The event is being hosted in partnership with Quadrabuild, which is a spinal injuries charity. Quadrabuild has been founded by Joe English, who is a member of the West Riding Stonecarving Association and was the apprentice winner of the European Stone Festival in 2016. Joe survived a spinal injury in a car crash in 2017 that has left him paralysed. He now campaigns to support people with spinal injuries through mentorships, home adaptions and confidence rebuilding.
The Piece Hall stone carving festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday 20 & 21 October. There will be pop-up food and drink stalls and live entertainment to take you into the evening, and on the Sunday afternoon there will be a special presentation and award ceremony to celebrate the carvers and sponsors of the event and the charity.
