Fein Art
As part of the £35million restoration and alteration of Manchester City Art Gallery, Oldham stone and conservation specialists Maysand are cutting out modern Portland cement mortars and repointing the sandstone building with hydraulic lime from British company Hydraulic Lias Limes (Hl2). The hard cement has to be cut out carefully to avoid damaging then surrounding stonework and Maysand are using Fein Industrial Power Tools\' MultiMasters and SuperCuts for the job. The blades oscillate at 22,000 times a minute through 3.2∫, allowing the masons to work with precision. The stone involved is Crosland Hill, Catlow, and Stoke Hall sandstones with Halldale gritstone. The art gallery is due to re-open in Spring next year.
