Giving discs longer life

A new, hand-operated tool has been developed to trim worn abrasive disks down to the next size so they can continue to be used.

The Abrasive Disc Trimmer comes from Agriemach in Crawley, West Sussex. It comprises a base unit with a hinged overhead arm mounted on a sturdy workboard.

The worn disc is positioned on the base, abrasive side up. The hinged overhead arm is pressed down and a handle turned to trim the disc.

In this way 9in disks can be trimmed down in stages to 41/4in.

The machine is made from aluminium alloy. It is 250 x 260mm, 100mm high and weighs less than a kilogramme.
