Hard landscaping

the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, this month (April), beginning a two week long celebration that includes a concert with an expected audience of 10,000. The 11,500m2 public square is one of the oldest in the UK and said to be the second largest, after Trafalgar Square in London.

It has been paved mostly in Christal Azul Portuguese brown and white granite, with some Chinese black and white granite and black Chinese granite water features that consist of four tiered layers of pools with waterfalls and fountains that can shoot water 10m into the air.

The stone was supplied by hard landscaping specialists Charcon and the design was the work of architects Gustafson Porter, creators of the Diana Memorial in Hyde Park, who won a competition for the Nottingham square redesign launched in 2003 as \'Square One\'.
