On 6 April, the reporting requirements for RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995) changed so that you only have to report minor accidents or illnesses if absenteeism is more than seven days. It used to be three.
Employers and others with responsibilities under RIDDOR must still keep a record of all events resulting in more than three days' absence. If the employer keeps an accident book, then this record will be enough.
You also have longer to report incidents that lead to more than seven days' absenteeism. It is now 15 days from the day of the accident.
A new leaflet detailing the reporting requirement changes under Riddor is available. You can download a copy by clicking on the web address below.
