Free Safety & Health Awareness Day in Leicestershire

People on a previous Stone Federation / HSE SHAD. The next is 19 April in Leicestershire.

Stone Federation is offering free places to its members wishing to attend its Safety & Health Awareness Day (SHAD) in Leicestershire on Tuesday, 19 April. For non-Members there is a charge of £10 to attend.

Although it is called a 'day', it is in fact half a day. And it has proved so popular that it is now going to be two half days, with one session starting with registration at 9am and another in the afternoon with registration at 1pm.

The Federation has joined up with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) to run this event specifically for the stone industry. It is aimed at stonework operatives and stonemasons, including supervisors and managers.

Accident rates in the stone industry are above average for manufacturing and work on construction sites poses even greater risks. Ill health, particularly linked to exposure to stone dust, remains at a high level.

By attending this SHAD you will:

  • Get practical advice in controlling health & safety risks.
  • Learn about common hazards & precautions.
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions about your legal duties.
  • Be able to take ideas back to your workplace to improve or maintain safety

It is being held at Schlüter Systems Ltd, Beveridge Lane, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 1TE on 19 April 2016, starting at 9-o-clock in the morning.
