Getting employees to do their bit

HSE has launched a campaign called ‘Do your Bit’ to get workers as well as their employers involved in health & safety. The initiative will run for the next year.

A new section on the HSE website is available to help employers get their employees more involved in health & safety at work.

HSE are also offering two new subsidised health & safety training courses to show companies how they can get started with worker involvement or improve their existing arrangements. They will help companies make their employees and subcontractors central to health & safety matters.

And it is not just to protect people. Safe working environments tend to be efficient working environments with better workflow, higher output and improved product quality, say the Health & Safety Executive.

The campaign is in response to workplace research that shows involving workers has a positive effect on health & safety performance. As it says on the website: tell them and they will know; involve them and they will understand.
