A man died in an incident at Mckeon's Threecastles limestone quarry in Stradbally, Co Laois, Ireland on Monday (5 January).

He was Tony Bergin (49) of Clashacrow, Freshford. He is reported to have worked for McKeon Ltd for the past 17 years. He leaves a widow, Irene, and their three young children.

Efforts to save Tony by paramedics and staff were unsuccessful. The Health & Safety Authority in Ireland is investigating the incident.
