Find out what Part L changes could mean to you

Revisions to Part L of the Building Regulations due to take effect from April will change the insulation and thermal bridging requirements of using natural stone. New and innovative solutions are going to be required for buildings where the outer skin is natural stone.

To ensure the stone industry is not disadvantaged, Stone Federation GB has commissioned a major study to provide training and guidance for its members and their customers.

In particular it aims to provide:

  • innovative and sustainable solutions to meet the changes to Part L
  • investigations to show how traditional stonework can continue to be fixed taking into account increased cavity sizes and thermal breaks
  • education and training for the sector, as well as clients and natural stone specifiers, on how these new circumstances and demands can be complied with.

The project will allow natural stone suppliers and contractors to continue to compete on an equal footing with other construction materials and ensure natural stone continues to play a major role in building.

Stone Federation is planning to hold its first Part L seminar at BRE Watford on Tuesday 4 February.
