MAB announces May House of Commons seminar

The Memorial Awareness Board (MAB) are organising a seminar and reception at the House of Commons on 3 May. The seminar, sponsored by Keith Simpson MP, will highlight the potential of burial grounds and the need for resources in this area. There will be three speakers at the event: Ian Hussein, who\'s theme will be \'the Cemetery as a Garden\' and will put the case for conserving historic burial landscapes as sustainable public amenities; Ken West, speaking on freedom of choice and the need for income for burial authorities; and Jenny Gregson who will address the subject of safety and the work that BRAMM register of memorial masons is doing to ensure safe cemeteries for the future. The talks will be followed by questions from the floor, after which guests will move through to the Terrace Pavilion for drinks and canapÈs. Tickets for the event are £12.50.
