During the Natural Stone Show in London\'s ExCeL exhibition centre in March, exhibitors STATS ran a competition inviting visitors to guess the slip resistance of a piece of stone as measured by their weighted pendulum test equipment. Their was a winner of a bottle of Champagne each day, one of whom was Patrick Allen, team leader from the London Borough of Newham (environment & commercial standards section), pictured here receiving his prize from Dr Ian Sims, director, materials consultancy, of STATS, the consultancy company based in St Albans. The other two winners were Edwin Parry, projects manager with Alfred McAlpine Slate Ltd, and John T Davies, head of the technical department of Sir Robert McAlpine, Hemel Hempstead.
