A third Volvo L150H loading shovel has been bought by Albion Stone for its Portland limestone operations at the Jordans and Bowers mines on the Dorset island.
It will replace an older L150, bought in 2014, in the mines and work alongside another bought in 2016. The oldest one will move to secondary duties outside the mines.
For fire safety in the mines the 26-tonne shovel has an Ardent twin agent fire suppression system, fire resistant hydraulic oil, pyro jacket sleeved fuel lines, a double pole battery isolator and a Chelwyn valve.
