Dekton manufacturer Cosentino Group took part in the National Day celebrations in Spain’s Pavilion at the Expo Milano this year by producing a floor that contained the entire tomato genome inkjet printed on sheets of 20mm Zenith colour Dekton.
The huge sequence of many thousands of As, Cs, Gs and Ts that make up the tomato genome, with occasional pictures of tomatos that went over the letters but did not obliterate them, demonstrated this novel printing technique to illustrate the versatility of Cosentino's new sintered material.
The design milestone was the brainchild of architecture studio b720. The idea was to show how Dekton allows for customisation in this way. The cutting-edge inkjet technology being used for the first time in this way by the stone industry, as far as Cosentino know, can be used to print any design required.
