The work of Croydon sculptor Simon Keeley has been on show for the past month as part of an exhibition of various arts in the Cafe in the Park in Kennington Park, London.
The show was called Art 4 the Park. Simon's work included two carvings in Ancaster Hard White limestone - The Green Man, an ancient symbol of the spirit of the woods, and The Archer, depicting a man shooting a bow and arrow into a tree, which was a commission Simon received to copy in stone a 14th century wood carving.
He also included examples of lettercutting. One of them, Darkly Deeply, pictured here, is an extract from a poem about the sea carved on Cumbrian slate, which looks appropriately sea-coloured.
Something a little larger is next on Simon's agenda, when he will be carving an angel for Westminster Abbey.
