London-based specialist stone restoration company DBR (London) Ltd have launched a new roofing division, called DBR Leadwork, at a Champagne reception at the Painted Hall, part of the King William Court at the Royal Naval College. The event was attended by more than 400 leading industry figures, who included senior partners from architectural practices, building and project management firms, and English Heritage.
The reception was held at Painted Hall in recognition of the fact that DBR had also had their maintenance contract renewed by the Greenwich Foundation. The contract means DBR look after the historic buildings in the Old Royal Naval College.
Many of the guests chose to use the river taxi DBR had arranged as a homage to Sir Christopher Wren, the designer of this baroque masterpiece, who would travel to Greenwich by boat to oversee the building work. During the reception, Don Simms, Yeoman Guide for the Foundation, spoke of the glories of the Painted Hall, decorated by Sir James Thornhill.
David Lucas, DBR Managing Director, said: “I believe our company demonstrates that it’s always possible to develop if one continues to offer clients a professional service and top quality work, as we do.”
Adrian Attwood, DBR Executive Director, added: “We are extremely proud to be members of an industry that has the care of the country’s architectural heritage as its raison d’etre”.
