Domus Façades have launched a new stone-faced façade cladding product called StoneGlaze.
The product fuses together thin stone and spandrel panel technology. In essence, this development from rainscreen suppliers Domus offers the ability to ‘glaze-in’ natural stone products to a traditional stick built or unitised facade.
“The principle is not complicated” says Brian Mace, MD of Domus Facades. “More and more building fabric is being delivered by facade contractors offering the whole envelope. This new product allows the traditional glazing contractor to do what he does best and deliver the curtain wall. Stoneglaze is simply glazed into the facade system as you would glaze in a piece of glass or a spandrel panel.”
Richard Piggott, Business Development Manager for Domus Facades, adds: “On our initial costing exercises we have found that Stoneglaze can be more cost effective than a through-the-wall stone rainscreen solution. The fact that you can now have a common system throughout the facade is simply priceless in terms of robust interface detailing.”
The Stoneglaze system is offered in a standard range of stones and finishes, although other stones can be used on a job- specific basis.
Panel U values range from 0.38W/m2K down to 0.22W/m2K, depending on the glazing zone. The panels can be retained with traditional plates and caps or be toggle fixed for seamless glass-to-stone junctions.
