Diespeker & Co pulled out all the stops to complete 80m2 of marble cladding and flooring for clothing retailer END’s new store in Glasgow.
The store is in Ingram Street in Glasgow’s ‘Style Mile’ and boasts a stunning interior look created by Diespeker for AD Baker with cladding using quarter-matched Arabescato marble.
The project required a fast turnaround. In late November last year, Diespeker took delivery of 30 x 20mm thick slabs of 3m x 1.8m, allowing two panels per slab. The slabs were checked before being cut and delivered to site in Ingram Street.
The sub frame was a steel structure clad in 25mm ply. The marble was bonded and mechanically fixed. One onsite challenge was the specification of an 8m elevation and the project was complicated by the need for top panels to make the elevation compliant.
As well as the cladding, there were countertops and display plinths made by Stone Age in Calacatta Carrara Honed marble that was supplied by wholesaler Stone World in Park Royal, London.
The Diespeker team rose to the challenge and the installation was completed on time, even though initial order to completion was just four weeks.
Diespeker MD, John Krause said: “The team really pulled together to make sure that this was ready for the store opening.
“It was a complex project to pull off in such a short space of time, but the results are simply stunning.”
Mark Every, MD of retail fit out specialist AD Baker, says: “Everyone had to be flexible to make this happen and they were superb. It made all the difference.”
