Fila turns to solar power for all its energy needs

Fila, the maker of surface care products for natural stone and other hard surfaces, has invested in a new solar power system at its Padova factory and head office in northern Italy.

The new system, which includes 242 blocks of photovoltaic cells and five banks of inverters, will provide solar power to cover all the company’s energy needs – from the office and production facilities to the on-site research and development laboratory.

The new system will prevent the emission of 766tons of C02 a year – the equivalent of an average car travelling 4,855,307km.

To achieve the same reduction through tree-planting would have resulted in a wood of 18,132 trees.

The investment forms part of Fila’s Green Action initiative, which covers all of the company’s activities and includes expanding further its eco-friendly, water-based formulations for its Green Line that so far includes 17 surface care products.
