Forest of Dean Stone Firms reprints 100-year-old book as limited edition

After being out of circulation for 100 years, Forest of Dean Stone Firms has re-published a piece of stone history. Beautifully produced both as a hard-back and soft-back, this edition reveals the stone industry as it was 100 years ago and offers readers a glimpse into quarries of the early 19th century, both in the Forest of Dean and around the UK.

Nick Horton and Marcus Scott Russell, owners of Forest of Dean Stone Firms, were keen to maintain the complete integrity of the original version of the book, so the new copies contain minimal changes, remaining almost entirely as the book was a hundred years ago.

They have, however, added some personal touches, including handwritten numbering on the limited edition hard-backs, a commemoration of the 1912-2012 centenary added to the spine, and a personal foreword from Marcus detailing how the stone business as we know it today has transformed and shaped his family through the generations.

Copies are on sale in bookshops in Gloucestershire and can also be bought online at Amazon.co.uk, quoting ISSN 978-0-9574590-1-4 for the paperback and 978-0-9574590-0-7 for the hard-back.
