Going back to black after a fade to grey

The George & Dragon with its Kandla Black natural limestone paving restored using LTP's Ecoprotec Blackstone sealer and restorer.

The George & Dragon pub in Dartmouth, Devon, had seen its Kandla Black natural limestone paving fade to grey after just three years and was keen to restore the contrast with the pub’s white walls that it had chosen the stone for in the first place.

It found the answer to its problem in LTP’s Ecoprotec Blackstone sealer and restorer.

The George & Dragon has been a public house for more than 200 years and its large paved beer garden is bordered by a historic natural stone wall that was once the end of a shipyard on the foreshore. The venue now blends old and new inside as well as in its paved beer garden, popular for alfresco dining with live music when the pandemic restrictions allow.

As well as restoring the aesthetic of the black stone, the owners also wanted the paving to be sealed so it would be easier to clean after food and drink had been spilled on it. However, they did not want an unnat-ural, glossy finish. Two or three coats of Ecoprotec Blackstone cut back with a dilute solution of LTP Pow-erstripper to leave a uniform finish gave the pub owner just what he was looking for and he declared him-self “delighted”.
