Hatherop Castle School’s Bath Stone protected with LTP Mattstone

The Bath Stone of Hatherop Castle School has been protected by LTP Mattstone.

Abingdon Stone & Marble has completed a renovation project at the prestigious Hatherop Castle School in the Cotswolds that included restoration of exterior mullions and transoms finished by using LTP Mattstone to protect the Bath Stone surfaces.

Set in 22 acres of Gloucestershire countryside, the Grade II listed school was established in 1947, while the castle itself dates back to the 17th Century.

Today, Hatherop Castle School has day pupils and boarders, accommodating children from two-years-old to 13. It is part of the family-run Wishford Schools group.

The renovation of the impressive Bath Stone exterior included cutting out damaged areas and piecing in repair indents. All the stone, original and replacement, was then treated with LTP Mattstone to protect it from the worst the elements have to throw at it.

All works were carried out by Mike Harris from Abingdon Stone in line with the school’s health & safety requirements.

LTP Mattstone is a natural finish impregnating sealer, which protects surfaces from staining while allowing them to breathe.

The protective matt finish is strongly repellent to water, oil and grease and the product can be used safely on both natural and engineered stone surfaces, indoors as well as out.
